📜 Transparency & Compliance

Texas Cottage Food Law

Bite Me Goodies operates under the Texas Cottage Food Law, allowing certain foods to be produced in a home kitchen and sold directly to consumers. These guidelines ensure transparency, safety, and trust while supporting small businesses.

  • Effective September 1, 2025: Most foods are allowed except meat, seafood, frozen desserts, low-acid canned foods, CBD/THC items, and raw milk products.
  • Annual sales cap: Up to $150,000 per year (adjusted for inflation).
  • TCS foods: Require DSHS registration, labeling, and temperature-controlled handling. Must be sold directly to the consumer.
  • Non-TCS foods: May be sold directly or through approved vendors.
  • Required labeling: “This product was produced in a private residence that is not subject to governmental licensing or inspection.”
  • Address privacy: A registered identifier may be used instead of a home address.
  • No local permits required solely for cottage food operation.
